Upcoming Delegate Assembly

The Delegate Assembly will take place on Saturday, May 16 at Hotel Whitcomb in San Francisco (1231 Market Street). There will be a continental breakfast available at 8:30 a.m. and the assembly will begin at 9:00 a.m.; it will adjourn mid-day.

This is going to be a great program so please RSVP immediately at http://whoozin.com/Y4M-QCQ-TPHP. The deadline to RSVP is Friday, May 8. If you are a delegate or will be an acting delegate for this Delegate Assembly, you must RSVP by that date.

Activating the Next Generation:Building on the work that we have done at the previous couple of Delegate Assemblies, Jim Potterton will be returning to discuss the next steps to move the Next Generation program forward. The program will draw from the breakout sessions at the last assembly where we brainstormed ideas on how to identify and attract new leaders.

Special Next Generation Program: Forbes just named San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose as the 3 worst cities for renters in the country. And not only is the rent too darn high (and getting higher by the day) buying your own home remains an unachievable dream for many – especially younger Local 21 members.  As a part of the Next Generation portion of the program, Jobs with Justice will be leading a presentation about affordable housing in the Bay Area. In this presentation they will share an overview of the housing crisis in SF and across the region and understand how the crisis affects our members, our union power and our political power — and ultimately, what we can do about it. From organizing to policy and advocacy, we’ll outline the major ways to fight back, tools you can use and share and further resources.

If you or your colleagues have any questions about affordable housing in the Bay Area that you would like to have covered, please email your questions to sgolden@ifpte21.org.

The budget for the next fiscal year will also be approved along with other regular business items.
