Re: International Convention Notice
This is official notice of the election of the Local 21 delegates to our International Union’s triennial convention.
At the February 26, 2015 meeting of the Local 21 Executive Committee, officers voted to send eleven Local 21 delegates to the 58th Convention of the International Federation of Professional & Technical Engineers scheduled for July 27-30, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The twenty-two person delegation will be made up of the eleven delegates that will be elected and the eleven Executive Committee officers that were already elected to attend in the fall of 2014.
Nominations may be made by petition signed by no fewer than twenty (20) members in good standing of the union. Blank petition forms will be available in the Local 21 offices (San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland) and online. Completed original nomination petitions must be received in Local 21’s San Francisco office (1182 Market Street, Room 425, San Francisco, CA 94102) by no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015. (Emailed and/or faxed copies of completed nomination petitions will NOT be accepted—original signatures are required.) Nominees may submit a 75-word candidate statement for distribution along with the ballot that also must be turned in by March 27.
The election will be overseen by the Election Committee, which is made up of Larry Griffin, Gus Vallejo and Dean Coate.
In accordance of Article XVI of the Local 21 Bylaws, The delegates that the Executive Committee approved sending will be split between the five Local 21 Regions* (San Francisco, Oakland, East Bay, South Bay, and At- Large) according to the January 2015 Membership Report. Delegates will also be elected as proxies so that the union can vote with their full strength at the convention. An alternate will be elected from each region in the situation that the delegate cannot attend. Breakdown is as follows:
A secret ballot will be mailed to each eligible member in good standing at his/her last known mailing address by no later than April 6, 2015 and must be returned to the Local 21 office in San Francisco by no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 30, 2015. Members will cast a vote for the delegate(s) running in their own region [only]. Ballots will be counted in the Local 21 office on May 1. The candidate(s) who receive the highest number of votes in each region will serve as delegates and proxies to the International Convention. Write-in votes are not permitted. [*To be eligible to vote in this election, you must have a completed membership application on file in the San Francisco union office by 5:00 p.m. on March 27.]
Delegates will have travel, lodging and per diem expenses paid for by Local 21. No lost time wages will be paid. Each delegate is charged with the responsibility of attending all general membership sessions, workshops, and special committee meetings as assigned. General delegation meetings and workshops are held daily. While at the convention, delegates are expected to conduct personal business before or after the convention sessions.

San Francisco Vice President: only members employed by the City & County of San Francisco are eligible to vote for this office (17 chapters).
South Bay Vice President: only members in the following chapters are eligible to vote for this office: AMSP; Association of Engineers & Architects; CAMP; City of East Palo Alto; Santa Clara County Engineers & Architects Association; Engineer’s Society, SCVWD; Professional Managers Association, SCVWD; Transportation Authority Engineers & Architects; (8 chapters).
At-Large: only members in the following chapters are eligible to vote for At-Large delegates: SFUSD; Golden Gate Bridge District; Superior Court Professionals; SFREA, Official Court Reporters (5 chapters).
